Service & Missions
For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve...
Mark 10:45
FPC supports and hosts several community outreach programs to serve and to help heal and protect members of our community.
About FPC Outreach
First Presbyterian Church offers a unique opportunity to meet Christ by serving the least of these in our own downtown community and to the ends of the earth. We offer various services to people who struggle through a free legal clinic, Shower Love, Room in the Inn and food baskets for Christmas in July and December. We partner with Chi Alpha campus ministry at Austin Peay State University. Our youth take mission trips throughout the southeast States. We have numerous volunteers working with Loaves and Fishes, a community soup kitchen that was housed in our facilities for 30 years before moving to a larger, more modern location. Our Service Committee provides assistance with utilities, medications, transportation, and during the pandemic of 2020, housing. First Presbyterian’s Service Committee had to shut down last March for the first time in 50 years. Things looked bleak as the country plunged into a deep recession, and committee members feared they would not have the funds to re-open once the COVID-19 lock-down lifted. They applied for and received Emergency Grants from the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation. These funds, along with limited church reserves, allowed the committee to help over 200 individuals from May through November 2020. Our ministry extends beyond our city to our partnerships with communities in Gallatin, TN (a PCUSA South Sudanese community), Rwanda (Presbyterian Hospital), and Bois Brulee, Haiti (an Episcopalian church and school community). Over the years, dozens of our members have gone on mission trips to these communities to serve in places worlds away and to be transformed by the experience.
First Presbyterian Church offers a variety of opportunities to make a difference in the world. You are invited to join us, so that you can see the difference such service can make in your own life.

Serve in our church
Use your unique gifts to help build the Kingdom.
The Church’s ministry is a gift from Jesus Christ.
Christ alone calls and uses the Church as he wills, exercising his authority by the ministry and service of women and men for the establishment and extension of God’s new creation.
Christ’s ministry is the foundation and standard for all ministry, the pattern of the one
who came “not to be served but to serve” (Matt. 20:28). The basic form of ministry is service.
We serve together under the mandate of Christ.
